Elevators and dining table

Elevators in UT

Steve jobs and Donatella Versace's dining table Steve Jobs elevator

Steve jobs elevator design illustrates a horizontal, solid structure with minimal creativity and flare to ideally illustrate the logic appearance of computers and other apple devices housing knowledge and complex work functions. The translucent glass structure is also a common element of apple store designs seen in various staircases and shopfronts.

Although basic the elevator design still demonstrates the status Steve Jobs has gained through his success starting from a subtle college dropout, then later selling personal computers assembled in his own garage and further developing into a multimillionaire before the age of 30 by creating a revolution in the computing industry

His elevator was mainly inspired by this article on the simplicity of Apple store designs:

Which came first - The Apple store or the virtual shop?

Close your eyes and imagine standing outside of a shop.
It’s quite a small shop occupying a relatively small space on the street. On the outside of the shop, branding is minimal and large glass windows allow a clear view straight inside, uncluttered by window displays. You walk into the shop. Inside, there’s plenty of room to walk around. Products are shown without fuss or clutter on displays hugging the walls. On the walls themselves are posters and imagery showing the products available. In the middle of the store, allowing easy access around it are tables showing more uncluttered products, proudly on display. The whole essence of the store is designed around the products - displaying them in a simple, approachable way. Anything not strictly part of the sales decision process is removed. It’s simple, and product-led. No fuss. Very little gets in the way.
